Safety and Training Specialist - SWC

South Walker Creek (L0013), QLD, AU

HSE Mining operates at some of the largest and most productive mine sites across Australia.  With extensive experience in the mining, quarrying and road construction industries, we can provide opportunities in a variety of fields involving heavy earth moving machinery.

An immediately available opportunity exists within HSE Mining for an experienced Safety and Training Specialist in the Bowen Basin area. This role will be responsible for providing assistance to the Project Manager in ensuring HSE meets its obligations under the Qld Coal Mining Act and associated Regulations.


The Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:


  • Ensure the implementation and effectiveness of compliance to the sites SHMS & Relevant Legislation
  • Maintain HSE safety reporting systems and reports as required
  • Promote Safety initiatives and cultural improvements to drive safety orientation
  • Conduct Incident investigations using ICAM or Similar Systems
  • Audit Systems & Processes
  • Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail in relation to compliance and investigations
  • Proactively engage with employees and clients to achieve sustainable safety outcomes


Qualifications Desired

  • Certificate IV in OH&S
  • Trainer Assessor Qualifications
  • ICAM Lead Investigator
  • RIIRIS301A – Apply Risk Management Process. (S1)
  • RIIOHS301A – Conduct Safety & Health Investigations (S2)
  • RIICOM301A – Communicate Information (S3)
  • RIIRIS402A – Implement & Maintain the Risk Management Process (G2)
  • Current Standard 11
  • Current QLD Coal Board Medical
  • Current open drivers licence
  • Senior First Aid Certificate


The Ideal Candidate

  • Be proactive and engaging in safety culture
  • Possess highly developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess demonstrated skills in risk assessment, hazard identification and responsive to safety issues
  • Possess demonstrated ICAM facilitation and risk management process and understanding
  • Be competent on a full range of Microsoft programs
  • Possess a working knowledge of the Qld Coal Mining Safety & Health Act


Have experience in building relationships at all levels of the business
