Maintenance Leading Hand (SWC)

South Walker Creek (L0013), QLD, AU

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Leading Hands to join the South Walker Creek team. These roles will assist the Maintenance Supervisor by ensuring work being carried out complies with all relevant Acts, Standards, SOP’s and work instructions through provision of technical and practical support. Working with the Maintenance team members to achieve the targets as set for their team including safety, Asset and Work Management performance. These roles need to be flexible and able to handle a high workload.

 

The Leading Hands are considered the “point of contact” for maintenance activities in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor.

 

Key aspects of this role include:

  • Responsible for the delivery of team outcomes within budget and resource limits in collaboration with the Maintenance Supervisor
  • Assist the Maintenance Supervisor in the implementation of maintenance plans ensuring team are provided with clear direction of expectations
  • Lead the team to adopt new ideas and/or approaches demonstrate continuous improvement
  • Identify and manage any identified risks and/or issues or escalate to Maintenance Supervisor as required
  • Ensure maintenance data, history and ordering are accurately recorded in AMT
  • Implement risk management plans to ensure the work area objectives can be achieved
  • Incorporate safety standards and behaviours into daily tasks and activities of the team
  • Recognise positive safety behaviour and deal effectively with any breaches of safety standards or behaviours
  • Participate in the development and review of SOPs, SWPs, JSAs and Risk Assessments
  • Facilitate and promote safety standards and behaviours across the maintenance teams
  • Clearly communicate environmental standards and behaviours to the team
  • Participate in field leadership activities.

 

In order to be successful in this role, it is essential that candidates have:

  • Thorough understanding of the QLD Coal Mining Legislation and how it relates to maintenance applications
  • In depth knowledge of plant & machinery within the mining environment and how to provide for consistent maintenance, planning and servicing practices
  • Previous experience in providing leadership to effect project and operational success in relation to maintenance applications, within an Open Cut Mining environment
  • Experienced in managing and maintaining personnel rosters within a mining environment
  • Experience in developing and managing a team of people to deliver outcomes within an organisation

  • Senior First Aid Certificate
  • Current open drivers license
