Senior Maintenance Planner

South Walker Creek (L0013), QLD, AU

We are looking for an experienced Senior Maintenance Planner to join the South Walker Creek team. Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, this role will provide technical support in developing short to medium-term maintenance schedules and ensure that work is completed safely in a planned manner within the required timeframes, costs and quality requirements..

  • Ensure maintenance performance of people, equipment availability, reliability and budget targets are achieved
  • Effective resource allocation (people, equipment and resources) to meet maintenance work targets and schedules
  • Meet and exceed maintenance targets as measured by the site KPIs
  • Following company purchasing guidelines
  • Maintain 80 percent planned labour utilisation in the weekly maintenance schedules
  • Ensure the creation of work packages to be executed by the maintenance team
  • Own and Manage the equipment defect backlog list
  • On site owner of AMT
  • Ensure compliance with Mine Safety Management Plan and Statutory Safety requirements.
  • Establish and maintain site registers as directed by the Maintenance Superintendent.
  • Ensuring all records, work orders, purchase requisitions etc. are accurately completed.
  • Actively participate in continual improvement activities identifying opportunities and developing action plans for implementation where these are within your authority.
  • Incorporate safety standards and behaviours into daily tasks and activities of the teams.
  • Work to continuously improve the safety culture and performance.
  • Complete Planning and scheduling of excavator fleet. (light/medium vehicles)
  • Lead continuous improvement activities and provide technical knowledge to improve efficiency’s
  • Monitor work of subcontractors to ensure that they meet site requirements.
  • Provide maintenance schedule to identify equipment requirements, capacity, and identifying issues that affect the optimal progress of the schedule
  • Produce reports from AMT to review planning accuracy.
  • Manage all component change-out work orders including component serial number tracking on HSE rotable components.
  • Forecast monthly, 6-monthly and annual equipment maintenance plans in conjunction with the Long-Term Planner.
  • Schedule component ordering and component stock control.
  • Chair the Weekly HSE planning meeting.
  • Attend the monthly OEM site meetings.


In order to be successful in this role, it is essential that candidates have:

  • Worked in and overseen an CMMS.
  • Strong background and experience in Maintenance Planning.
  • Demonstrated understanding of procurement processes & systems.
  • Current open driver’s licence
  • Generic Surface Induction
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in both a team environment as well as unsupervised
  • Advanced computer proficiencies particularly with ERP systems (preferably Microsoft Dynamics & AMT)
  • Trade certificate or Diploma in Maintenance Management, desirable.
