Production Leading Hand – South Walker Creek

We have exciting opportunities available for Production Leading Hands at South Walker Creek!

 

HSE is a specialist provider of large-scale mining services to Australia's resources sector. In addition to providing earthmoving and other contract mining services, HSE provides heavy equipment rental to mining sites with its fleet of large-scale and ancilliary earthmoving and excavating machinery. Known originally as Howard Springs Earthmoving (HSE), the business was established in 1991 by three business partners through their initial investment in a single front-end loader. HSE progressively expanded through acquiring more equipment and servicing larger projects, whose size and scale continued to expand with the growth of the business. HSE joined the Swire Group in 2013. 

 

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, this role will provide direct supervision in conjunction with the Production Supervisor to ensure a safe and cost-efficient operating environment is maintained to support the delivery of performance targets.

 

Key aspects of this role include:

  • Delivery of outcomes within budget and resource limits
  • Implementing operational plans ensuring teams are provided with clear direction of expectations
  • Encouraging the team to adopt new ideas and/or approaches to demonstrate continuous improvement
  • Identifying and managing any identified risks and/or issues or escalate to Production Supervisor or Production Superintendent as required
  • Incorporating safety standards and behaviours into daily task and activities of the team
  • Recognising positive safety behaviours and dealing effectively with any breaches of safety standards or behaviours
  • Facilitating risk assessments (JSA) with the crew.

 

In order to be successful in this role, it is essential that candidates have:

  • RIIRIS301A – Apply Risk Management Processes
  • RIIOHS301A – Conduct Safety & Health Investigations
  • RIICOM301A – Communicate Information
  • Senior First Aid Certificate or Higher
  • Generic Surface Induction
  • Applicable Coal Competencies
  • Current open drivers’ licence
  • Demonstrated high level of communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated skills in risk awareness, hazard identification and a strong commitment to safety performance
  • Basic computer literacy – able to use MS Office suite of programs
  • Working knowledge of the Coal Mining Safety & Health Act and associated regulations and how they pertain to individual and supervisor obligations.
