Production Leading Hand – South Walker Creek


<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">We are looking for a Production Leading Hand to backfill a vacancy on A Crew due to an internal promotion.


<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Reporting to the Production Superintendent, this role will provide direct supervision in conjunction with the Production Supervisor to ensure a safe and cost-efficient operating environment is maintained to support the delivery of performance targets.


<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Key aspects of this role include:

  • Delivery of outcomes within budget and resource limits
  • Implementing operational plans ensuring teams are provided with clear direction of expectations
  • Encouraging the team to adopt new ideas and/or approaches to demonstrate continuous improvement
  • Identifying and managing any identified risks and/or issues or escalate to Production Supervisor or Production Superintendent as required
  • Incorporating safety standards and behaviours into daily task and activities of the team
  • Recognising positive safety behaviours and dealing effectively with any breaches of safety standards or behaviours
  • Facilitating risk assessments (JSA) with the crew.


In order to be successful in this role, it is essential that candidates have:

  • RIIRIS301A – Apply Risk Management Processes
  • RIIOHS301A – Conduct Safety & Health Investigations
  • RIICOM301A – Communicate Information
  • Senior First Aid Certificate or Higher
  • Generic Surface Induction
  • Applicable Coal Competencies
  • Current open drivers’ licence
  • Demonstrated high level of communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated skills in risk awareness, hazard identification and a strong commitment to safety performance
  • Basic computer literacy – able to use MS Office suite of programs
  • Working knowledge of the Coal Mining Safety & Health Act and associated regulations and how they pertain to individual and supervisor obligations.
